Wakeboard Fins

Wakeboard Fins Dramatically Impact Your Ride.

Wakeboard fins are what keep your board in the water and going the direction you want. There are a number of different kinds of wakeboard fins and fin configurations. Longer fins will hold your board more securely in the water because the are cutting deeper through the water, but shallower wakeboard fins will allow for quick reaction and sharper turning.

There are a number of different configurations that wakeboarders use when setting up their wakeboard fins. First of all there is the single middle fin, meaning one fin on each end, this gives a very surf feel to your wakeboard ride with out any kind of edging.

Secondly you can set up your wakeboard fins in a quad set up, this is where there are two fins at either end of the board placed on the outer edges. This wakeboard fin set up provides much more of a snowboard feel to you wakeboard ride as you get a sense that the board cuts through the water on the edges. Shallower wakeboard fins are typically used on this configuration.

Finally you can have wakeboard fins set up as six fins. This means you usually have two molded fins with a removable center fin.

Twin wakeboard fins will give a rider the most predictable ride and is often where most beginners start. This is because there is no chance of catching a wakeboard fin unexpectedly.

Quad wakeboard fins allow for quick, tight turning but feel much looser when you are initiating an approach to the wake.

Six wakeboard fins add hold and control through your turns and help a wakeboard rider accelerate through their turns.

Molded wakeboard fins allow for maximum edge hold on your wakeboard through the use of the molded fin/channel of the wakeboard.

Some of the most popular wakeboard fins are Rainbow Fins, which come in a variety of different shapes and sizes.
